When you are new to CBD oil, how do you know which CBD oil products to use? The choices can be overwhelming. You may have heard from a friend or family member or a media story about the potential benefits of CBD. But where do you begin when you are new to CBD? Right here is a good place tp start:-
CBD is used for a wide range of wellness properties. Most notably, people have found CBD to be useful for pain relief, reducing anxiety, as a sleep aid and as an anti-inflammatory. As more studies are released, experts are uncovering more of CBD’s potential benefits. It has now been recommended by NICE and is in use by the NHS.
Since CBD has risen in popularity, it has been incorporated in a number of products from established brands as well as spawning newcomers into the market. Sadly, not all CBD sellers are equal and finding a good CBD brand means doing your homework. Tests by The Centre for Medicinal Cannabis have found that not all CBD products offer the same level of the active ingredient, with some containing incredibly low levels compared to what is stated on the bottle.
UK regulators are looking to address this issue by including CBD products into the Novel Foods Act, which will come into force on 31 March 2021. Brands will come under more stringent regulation, part of which will require that they test and prove the CBD content of their products.
We recommend you look into the brand you are considering. Reputable CBD brands will share their lab results for each batch to show CBD consistency and strength. You can see our independent lab reports here.
What is the difference between 10ml and 30ml bottles of CBD oil products? Which has the highest concentration of CBD? You might presume that if you buy the larger bottle then it will contain more CBD. Unfortunately, this assumes that the products have the same concentration of CBD whereas there is often a significant difference in concentration between brands and bottle sizes. Larger bottles tend to contain a more diluted version of the product.
It can be confusing when larger bottle sizes are available to understand the CBD you are consuming. To make a direct comparison, look for the milligram (“mg”) content of CBD and the millilitre (“ml”) size of the bottle to understand the concentration.
For example, a 20ml or 30ml bottle may contain 2,000mg, which is merely a lower concentration of a 10ml bottle containing the same 2,000mg. The larger bottles simply contain more carrier oil. You therefore need to consume more of the larger bottles in order to benefit from the same effects.
Sativa Gold oil comes only in 10ml bottles and has premium CBD content of 250mg, 500mg, 1000mg and 2000mg.
First, speak to your doctor before incorporating CBD into your daily wellness routine. When taking other medications, it is wise to consider potential interactions and only your doctor can do this for you. CBD is a supplement and cannot substitute medication prescribed by your doctor.
To find the dose that works for you, we generally advise to start with 20mg a day which equates to a drop of our 250mg strength oil taken twice a day. Slowly increase the dose to find your optimal amount. Everyone is different. The right strength for you will depend on your weight, body chemistry, and the level and type of relief you are seeking.
A 10ml bottle contains approximately 200 drops, and generally people take 2-4 drops per day (or half a pipette per day) but everyone is different.
The raw versions of CBD oil contain all of the cannabinoid nutrients from the whole plant. Whereas refined versions have removed some of the stronger tasting cannabinoids. The level of CBD in either version is the same. Therefore, the main difference you will notice is the taste – much like the difference between virgin and regular olive oils – and you may find you have a preference for one or the other.
For those that prefer a sweeter taste, we recommend our White Chocolate ChocCaps These contain the CBD Oil but in a handy Gel Cap which can be discretely placed under the tongue to dissolve slowly.
